Yay! Josh is finally home! It is so nice having him here!
The week before, his last day kept changing. He was supposed to be done on August 29th (so in 2 days), but they got super slow and everyone wanted to be done. And then where we were going to pick him up kept changing. When he started the job, we were told he had to take his truck to Blackfoot, ID (7 hours away.. close to where we used to live). Then they said no, I can just pick him up in Denver. Then his boss offered to drive him to Cheyenne (2 1/2 hours from Casper). But ended up not having room, so we ended up having to drive the 4 hours to get him.
Thursday it was finally time to get him! Hyrum had a screening for preschool. He did awesome! He got weighed, checked his eye sight, had a couple games so they could see what he knows, checked his hearing, and checked his lead level by finger prick. He was "within normal range" with everything! Makes me so proud! And Corbin was a champ as well! He was so happy. Close to the end he got a little fussy, but within minutes, he fell asleep in my arms.
The plan was to go home for a couple minutes to change Corbin's diaper, eat. But because Corbin was asleep, we decided to skip it. So we got on the road at noon, which is 30 minutes earlier than I planned. Awesome! It was cold that day, so we had jackets on, but it got hot in the car. About 10 miles on the road, Hyrum made me pull over so I could take off his jacket. Ok. I was nervous because Corbin's still asleep, and if he woke up, it was going to be a long drive. And my luck, yes he woke up! But very lucky, he didn't make us pull over and feed him! That was our only stop the whole time! They did awesome! No accidents, didn't have to stop and feed Corbin. It was awesome! Corbin ended up falling asleep about 1.5 hours later and slept until we got to where we were meeting josh. Hyrum fell asleep just after Cheyenne, which is a little more than half way. And slept until we got to where we were meeting josh. So awesome! It also started pouring rain. Awesome! We met josh at a gas station close to where he was working. Luckily, I was able to follow him because it was raining, plus rush hour! It wasn't too stressful, but it was nice. We did end up losing him at one point, plus my gas light came on, so we met at a gas station again.
After that, we headed to his apartment to load up the car and stretch our legs. We said our goodbyes, and left.
We left around 5ish for our errands. Got on the road about 530. The drive home wasn't too bad either! We stopped once in Cheyenne. We stopped at McDonald's to get some food, Hyrum had to go potty (seriously, he hasn't gone since before we left Casper!), And I needed to feed Corbin. After that, we headed straight home. No more stops! They kids were champs, even though we were in the car for 8 hours, minimum! I'm so proud of them! We got home around 10. And the kids, who were supposed to be tired refused to fall asleep! They were just so happy to have dad home, it took us forever to get them to fall asleep. But they did sleep in, so that's a plus.
He's been home 1 1/2 days and its been awesome! It's been so nice having him home. now we're on the hunt for finding him a new job. We've had a couple leads. Just hope he gets something soon! It's been great. I can have quiet time now! We're just so happy to be back together as a family.
