October and November

It's been quite the while. Things have been hectic! But here's a quick update.

Let's start with October. Nothing much happened, just Halloween. Hyrum was Captain America, and Corbin was Mickey Mouse. It was pretty low key. I took Corbin to our church trunk or treat. He had a blast! they had some games, and unfortunately, most of them were a bit too confusing for a two year old, but he still had fun trying them.

He wasn't too thrilled about his costume, but he cheered up after we got to the party!

Then we took the boys trick or treating. We went to a historic neighborhood close to downtown. All the houses were decorated so wonderfully! It took a minute for the boys to warm up to the idea, but they loved it!

Every year, November is probably our busiest month. We have Josh's birthday. Which was pretty low key. We just had a party at the house. We invited some of his coworkers, and they watched football (boring!), so I ended up in our room. We had finger foods for dinner, and i made a delicious oreo cake for dessert. It was such an easy dessert, and so good!

A week later, we have our anniversary. We haven't done anything for that yet. It's a busy month, and sad on our wallet! haha.
Then a week later, we have Corbin's birthday. My baby turned 3! I know, I can't believe it either. We had dinner on the sunday, after thanksgiving. We had some friends over to my parents. We had pot roast, mashed potatoes for dinner. Which was delish, as usual. Corbin was screaming almost all day. poor boy! it was rough. We had Mickey Mouse cake, and ice cream. Me and my mom decorated the cake. I think it turned out pretty cute! It just took FOREVER. hahaha. We got him a jack in the box for his present. and he LOVED it! it was hilarious.

Him screaming. Hilarious picture!

Thanksgiving was rough this year, but I feel like, out of all holidays, we struggle the most on Thanksgiving. Josh tends to be sick. Out of the seven Thanksgivings we've been together, at least half of them he's been sick. This year was no different. The day before, we go over to some friends house for a dinner. That was fun!
For actual Thanksgiving, it was rough! I had quite the meal planned. But i started off the day with a gallbladder attack. I was in so much pain all day. So much for my meal plan! i couldn't do anything all day. Luckily, the kids understood, and they were fairly calm and independent all day. But later that day, Josh started getting sick and actually ended up in the ER due to dehydration. So it was a very rough day. I hope next year isn't as rough!

A couple days ago, we decorated gingerbread houses. It was so fun! it was my first time in at least 10 years, and my kids first times. so much fun! here's some pictures.

My brother has a wicked sense of humor. his house says stay out. He has Santa hanging from a candy cane, surrounded by army men. Then another Santa in the back, laying down with blood surounding him. Then ANOTHER Santa in a block candy dungeon.

Mine. It's only half a house. haha. my mom, who made the gingerbread houses, didn't make all the parts. It was fun trying to decorate the inside of one! haha

Hyrums. He decorated it like he wanted. All I did to help was the frosting.

Corbins. He only got one side. We figured that'd be about all his mind could handle. We were right!

Josh: Still sick. He has good days and bad days. Back during summer when he was working in Denver, he injured his shoulder. Turns out he tore his rotator cuff. He's been in physical therapy for about a month now. It's not getting better, so there's a big chance he has to get surgery to repair. yay! *says sarcastically* So we get to look forward to that *rolls eyes* Cross your fingers for us! I'm really hoping it won't come to that. He's getting an MRI on Tuesday, and we'll know more then. Other than that, he's just working a lot. He's starting school, and he's working towards going to school online. Hope that works out!

Me: Things have been ok. Just lots of taking kids to appointments. I get lonely. But i finally found something to help my anxiety/depression, so that's been wonderful! i finally have motivation to do stuff. I was in such a rut. Our place was a disaster, we had pasta every dang day, because i just couldn't cook. But i'm cooking again! Sunday, i actually tried a new recipe. Brown butter pumpkin cookies. SO DANG DELICIOUS!

Hyrum: Early November, we had Hyrums first parent teacher conference in Elementary school! how did we get here?! She said he is doing good! the only issue is he takes FOREVER to do his school work. But he is learning so much, and excelling in everything! She mentioned that he failed TWO eye exams with the school nurse though. So we need to make an appointment with an eye Dr. A week later, we go to that appointment. He did well! And surprise! He is very farsighted and definitely needs glasses. So we choose those. He chose some green (his favorite color) and black ones. We waited about a week and the glasses got here two days before Thanksgiving. Doesn't he look handsome?! haha that second picture cracks me up!

Corbin: He is now 3. For the past year, he has been having speech therapy with the local Child Development Center. He is delayed in everything. And because of that, he started preschool with them as well! he started the Wednesday after Thanksgiving. so we're in our 2nd full week there and he is loving it! The first week was hard, because he's not used to being away from us. But this week, he's doing so good! He hugs us goodbye, and basically pushes us out so he can play with his friends and teachers. It's so sweet! He's learning so much, and I'm so excited to see what he learns!

So that's our family in a nutshell. Here's to December!
