On November 19th, it was Corbins 2nd birthday! i can't believe my baby is two! i remember the day he was born like it was yesterday. my baby is growing up! and he is definitely acting like he's two! haha. those terrible twos are no joke. but he's still better than the terrible fours like his brother (who actually threw his tv a couple weeks ago. ouch!). I decorated our house before going to bed the night before, so it'd be all decorated when he woke up! it was so special! Josh had to work that day, even tho he requested it off. lame! but oh well. so it was just me and the two boys all day. Honestly, it didn't feel like his birthday. Josh got off around dinner time, so he decided to take us to a "surprise location" (he wouldn't tell me because he knew i would've said no). He took us to Buffalo Wild Wings, which i HATE. to watch football, which i HATE. so....ya, it was fun :( but oh well. At least, we were together. And i got sick and had to leave early. so ya....good night! haha. but...my baby is TWO now! happy birthday baby boy!
Some time in between all our big days, the boys had dentist appointments. Which are some of the worst days of the year. With hyrums sensory processing disorder (Spd), he freaked out more than Corbin. And he's way strong! we had to hold both boys down, unfortunately. But we couldn't even put the stuff on Hyrums teeth when she was done. Corbin, luckily, came out of it with no problems this time (remember last time when we had to make an appointment to go to the surgical center?), so that was great and reassuring. Hyrum wasn't so lucky. He had at least 2 cavities, but she couldn't see a couple teeth, so there's a possibility of 4 cavities. And because of how he acted while there, we decided it's best to not bring him back, and we'll just do it at the surgical center and he'll get put under.So...that was fun! in 6 months, we needed to do both kids teeth. ugh! i feel like the worst mommy ever. But it's all genetics. sorry, kids! Our appointment was on Thursday, and they were able to get his appointment on the next Thursday. So that was nice being so quick! we don't get a time until the day before the procedure, which is so hard to plan.
We get called that Monday, our check in time is 10:30. Which sucks. I was hoping it'd be around 8 or 8:30, because Hyrum couldn't have any food or drink after midnight. So that seemed like a long time to make a four year old go without either. So just lots of distracting and hoping it won't be too bad. They said he can't have motrin or any of those meds a week before procedure, due to it being a blood thinner. I didn't think to tell Josh, because i thought we were out of it, so it shouldn't be a problem. The night before, about 6 o'clock, Hyrum says his legs hurts and he needs medicine. Josh gave him motrin, but i didn't know. Until, about 8:30, he asked if Hyrums even allowed medicine the night before. I said "yes, as long as it's not motrin" surprise! that's what he gave him! gah! i was so stressed. I didn't sleep at all that night, just stressed if they'd even let him go. And because it was way less than 24 hours cancellation, would we have to pay a huge fine?! talk about stressful! so, i woke up at 630, which is when they open, and called and asked. thank goodness, it wasn't a big deal! it took a couple hours for them to actually call me back though. But oh well! we can continue with it as planned! woo!
So we get there at 10:30. We decided for me to go with him, and Josh will stay home with Corbin. When i took Corbin, they were very fast and i hardly had to wait. Luckily, that's exactly what happened this time! We got signed in, and within 5 minutes, they were calling us back to get prepped. The did all vitals. We had to give him some medicine, which is normal, to help calm him down, so it'd be easier to do the anesthesia. poor nurses! while trying to give him medicine, he was so MEAN! calling the nurses (and one of them is our wards bishops wife! whoops!) "fools" "idiots" so that was fun! i felt terrible! But as soon as the medicine was in, it kicked in within a couple minutes, and he was so happy! it was crazy to see that transformation. After that, we just had to talk to the dentist, the anesthesiologist. Answer any questions about his health, and ask my questions. Then he went back! it's so hard giving up my baby's to a stranger, but i know he's in good hands. They said it'd only be about 30 minutes-an hour. it was definitely closer to 30 minutes. so that's great! They called me back to discuss everything. He did great. He did have 4 cavities, and one was so bad, he needed a cap as well. (note: he ended up getting a silver cap. which i had no idea, until the next day when i brushed his teeth! luckily, it's the very last tooth, and it'll fall out eventually). Now, i just had to wait for him to wake up so i could go back and see him. That took about as long as the procedure! it felt like it was FOREVER. poor josh was at home, and stressing so bad because they said it usually only takes about 10 minutes. But it was about 25 minutes. Finally, he wakes up, and i go and see him. At first, he was pretty confused on where he was. Then he noticed the IV in his hand, and poor boy! he started FREAKING OUT. And the couldn't remove it until he drank some water or gatorade. Luckily, i got him to drink from my water bottle. But then after, she had to put a wrap around it in case of bleeding and clots. And he didn't like that either. It was rough. He just wanted to go home, but we had to wait to be discharged, which seemed like it took FOREVER. but we finally left, and got home. And seriously, a couple hours later, you couldn't even notice he had anything done. so very grateful. They were a great team and i'm very impressed with them!
