Corbin's teeth cont.

In my last post, I mentioned Corbin's teeth are in terrible shape.
A quick recap: we noticed some spots on his front teeth, so we made an appointment with a dentist. corbin's teeth have weak enamel and got cavities on all 4 front teeth, plus a couple days later, he chipped his front tooth! poor kiddo. since he's so young, he needs to get put under anesthesia, which means instead of doing it at the dentist office, it needed done at the surgical center. i felt awful! but according to the dentist, they were so bad, if we waited another couple weeks, he'd need to get them pulled instead!
So fast forward. it felt like the week dragged by! although we kept ourselves busy, but it was a HARD week! I made plans for Hyrum to go to my parents thursday night. corbin wasn't allowed any food/drink after midnight. poor baby! So i anticipated it to be a hard night and we didn't want to keep hyrum awake all night with corbin screaming.
Thursday night was here, we said goodbye to hyrum and headed home. on the way, I decided to drive and figure out where we need to go in the morning. it was going to be an early morning, so i didn't want to stress about directions. Luckily, it was pretty easy. We got home and ate dinner. it was chicken and rice, so pretty filling and i fed him as much as he could handle.
We went to bed a little later and i had plans to breastfeed him until midnight. you know, get him nice and full. after midnight, i got comfortable on the couch thats right next to our bed (he was sleeping in my bed, and i didn't want him to still smell my milk). He wakes up, and i couldn't feed him like normal, it was heartbreaking! i was allowed to give him water until 2:30 am, so i tried that but no luck. He finally fell back asleep and that was it for the rest of the night! thank goodness!
We were scheduled to check in at 6:30 so we woke up at 6. got ready really fast and headed out the door. I didn't feel right eating breakfast since he couldn't, which made our morning routine faster.
We get there and get all signed in. He seems hapy and everyone so far is extremely helpful, so far it's going good! We didn't have to wait long before they got us back into a room and everything began. At first, it was just a lot of answering questions, asking my own questions, and vitals for corbin. No big deal. He started getting fussy because there was a lot of waiting. the staff seemed great and really eased my fears. They gave him some stuff to make him a little drowsy ( i think it was called verset or something?), and we needed to wait 15 minutes for it to kick in before they could take him.

They took him back, and handing him over was probably the hardest thing i've ever had to do. I wasn't expecting it to be that hard, but it was so hard! They said he'd be there for about an hour, and that was exactly what happened. i just waited in the waiting room and read a book on my phone. They come get me and take me to a room so i can talk with the dentist. He did great! the dentist believes the reason his teeth are so bad are just genetics, so it;s not something i did. He's pretty sure we'll be in next year to do the exact same stuff. lovely! But i might be able to prevent it so i'm going to do my hardest.
So now i just have to wait in the waiting room again until he wakes up. It took about 20 minutes. and when he woke up, he wouldn't stop screaming. He calmed down when i breastfed him. once he calmed down, we were able to check out and head home about 30 minutes later. We were home by 10:30.

doesn't it look so much nicer?!?!
The rest of the day was kind of a blur. He slept for 5+ hours after we got home! He was a little fussy, but he did great, all things considered!
I'm so proud of him! and i admit it, i'm proud of me, too, for getting through that with josh 4 hours away. i admit, as a gift to myself, while i was waiting for him to be done, i preordered the movie "beauty and the beast" live action! i'm still waiting, but it'll be here in 2-3 days and i'm so excited!
The week after this, we went to my grandparents cabin in montana. i'll put that in a post tomorrow night. goodnight, world! <3
