Beauty and the beast (2017): my review *spoilers*

We normally don't go to the movies, especially right when they come out (we prefer the cheaper theaters after the movies been out a while), i mean, the prices are ridiculous! for 2 of us, it can be upwards of $50! thats ridiculous! so..we don't go. in fact, i haven't been to a movie theater since we saw les miserables in early 2013! so its been 4 years. josh went and saw finding dory with his coworkers in devnver last summer.
But i've been absolutely obsessed with just watching the trailer for Beauty and the Beast. i've loved listening to the music, it's my favorite disney story. so my sweet husband surprised me and took me on a date (first kidless date since before corbin was born...hes 16 months old)!
well, first things first. since its been so long since i'vebeen to a theater, i had NO clue what to expect. We went to a matinee. the theater is older. We drive passed it everyday when we take hyrum to school, and i've never seen anyone go in or come out. i actually thought it was shut down! i was very shocked to see it was not! it was actually a very nice, clean theater. there was only one screen, but it was in a big area. all the seats even reclined! i've never seen that before, so that was cool.

so lets get into the movie... one word: AH-MAZING. like seriously, everything from the costumes, the acting, the scenery. it was GORGEOUS! it started with the back story, like hoe the animation starts. but instead of just a narrator and pics, like the animation, it actually shows whats going on. from the moment it started, it was incredible. then it goes to the village and showing belle (emma watson) and singing. emma watson was a great choice for the role. her voice was much better than i anticipated. i was skeptic at first, even tho i love her, but she did amazing.
the rest of the cast was incredible too! josh gad played Lefou (gastons sidekick), and he was my favorite! theres been a lot of debate, because he loves gaston, which he does in the animation too, and lots of people going crazy over a "gay scene"--whatever that means. but seriously, it wasn't anything to make a fuss over.
Luke evans played Gaston. he did great! he was evil, but so much fun to watch!
and Dan stevens played the Beast. he did so wonderful! and all "furniture" was fun and entertaining as well.
The stuck fairly close to the animated version, which was appreciated. But the added some things, as well. For example, they added a backstory. what happened to Belle's mom? and they showed that part and i bawled! they added some songs too. the didn't sing "human again" which was sad, but the other songs definitely made up for it.
josh keeps saying how there were a lot of references to harry potter, and there were! so that was fun as well!
i don't want to give away too many things, even tho i could talk about it for hours!
but it was a great movie and i can't wait to buy it!...seriously, i might have to go see it again!

5/5 stars
